You are welcome to attend postnatal breastfeeding counselling sessions to get answers to all your questions about breastfeeding.
Breast milk is the best gift a mother can give her baby at the start of its life. Besides providing a newborn with the most suitable food, breastfeeding creates intimacy with the mother in a loving and safe atmosphere, serving as the very first model of human relations for the baby. For some mothers, breastfeeding goes smoothly and without problems from the start, while others experience difficulties when attempting to breastfeed. By acting prudently, you can overcome these challenges and our breastfeeding counsellors are here to offer you advice.
All kinds of questions are welcome: about the condition and soreness of breasts, baby’s sucking pattern, weight gain, age-appropriate complimentary food, weaning, etc.
Midwives and breastfeeding counsellors providing this service have received special training. Three of them hold the IBCLE certificate.
Midwives and doctors of East Tallinn Central Hospital participate in the Estonian committee for the promotion of breastfeeding, created at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
