November 8 is the International Day of Radiology and this year the day is dedicated to breast imaging and the essential role that radiology plays in the detection, diagnosis and management of diseases of the breast.

Today, 121 years ago a German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered a new type of radiation that has the ability to pervade transparent substances and called these rays X-rays. In 1901 his discovery brought him The Nobel Prize.


Mammography is one of the few  national screening methods that makes it possible to effctively discover and treat breast cancer. East Tallinn Central Hospital has performed the mammographic screening since April 2011 and in 2012 joined the national screening program. The Breast Cabinet was established, which has allowed to successfully diversify the diacnostics and treatment of breast diseases.
