Newborn girls prevailed over boys at the start of the year in the oldest Estonian maternity hospital

3. February 2016

At the start of 2016, pink shades dominated at the Labour and Delivery Department of the East-Tallinn Central Hospital. Contrary to the manly voices that dominated on the last day of the past year, the first one to come to this world in the new year was a tiny baby girl born at 02:10.

On 31 December, we were keeping our fingers crossed to beat the magical 3,900 births limit and we did so by a number of births. While eight boys and just one girl were born on the last day of the year, the first day of the new year started with gentle baby girl voices.

The first baby of 2016, a girl, was born at 02:10.

On the first day of the year, a total of five newborns came to this world: four girls and just one boy.

The East-Tallinn Central Hospital wishes everyone a happy new year and the babies’ strength to continue growing.
