Pregnancy screening test (chorionic gonadotropin)

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a pregnancy hormone produced by the trophoblast of the blastocyst and later placenta and it can be detected in blood starting from the 14th day after fertilisation. It’s used for detecting pregnancy and monitoring fetal development. hCG measurement is also used in urine pregnancy tests but a blood test is significantly more accurate.
