Capsule endoscopy

Mainly the small intestine is examined. A swallowed capsule transmits images from inside the intestinal tract. Movement of the capsule inside the intestine may take hours.

At the beginning of the test, sensors recording the images transmitted by the swallowed capsule will be placed on the patient. A video assembled from these images will later be assessed by the physician, after the sensors have been removed. The capsule is single-use. It is not possible to take tissue samples or perform treatment procedures. The potential location of the disease in the small intestine is identified in the course of the procedure.
