The book traces the hospital’s development from the Free Hospital (Priihospidal), founded in 1785, into a modern hospital, and provides an overview of the development of healthcare organisation and medical care against the backdrop of societal change.

Speakers at the presentation included Deputy Mayor of Tallinn Riina Solman, historian and Head of Tallinn City Archives Küllo Arjakas, Professor of History Raimo Pullat, and Chairman of the Management Board of Tallinn Hospital Arkadi Popov. The event was moderated by Professor Dr Peeter Ross from Tallinn University of Technology.

The book was published by East Tallinn Central Hospital. Anna Rinaldo, researcher-curator and historian at the Estonian Health Museum, contributed to the historical account. The book was edited by Katrin Kern and Marek Simulman, with design by Tarmo Rajamets.
