At the initiative of the Riigikogu Social Affairs Committee, experts gathered to discuss the current state and future direction of cancer care in Estonia. Among the speakers was Dr Rille Pihlak, oncologist at East Tallinn Central Hospital and clinical lead of the Estonian Cancer Network (ESTCAN), who outlined several systemic shortcomings in the country’s cancer response.

We have been informed that fraudsters are posing as hospital employees to make scam calls. A scam call may be indicated by an international country code, unusual questions, or pressure to act quickly.

Dr Leelo Moosar, infection control physician at East Tallinn Central Hospital, recommends starting vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis before the spring tick season to ensure adequate protection against a disease for which no specific treatment is available.
