Breastfeeding picnic at ITK invites families to learn and connect

04.08.2025

On August 5, a breastfeeding picnic will take place in the green area of Ida-Tallinna Central Hospital’s Ravi Street unit as part of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7). The event brings together families to share experiences and learn about the health benefits of breastfeeding.

The picnic is open to expectant and new mothers with their families. ITK’s midwives and lactation consultants will provide practical advice and answer questions. Topics include how breastfeeding supports a child’s immune system, contributes to the mother’s recovery, and reduces the environmental impact compared to formula feeding.

“Breast milk gives the child the best start in life. It protects health and is a sustainable choice that requires no production or packaging,” says Aet M. Leberecht, Head of Breastfeeding Support at ITK.

The programme includes expert talks, creative activities for children, family games, healthy snacks, a mommy-baby dance, and a prize draw. Information will also be shared about ITK’s breastfeeding counselling services, available in Estonian, Russian, and English.

The event is free and open to all.
Time: August 5, 12:00–14:30
