Electroneuromyography (ENMG)

Electroneuromyography is a test used to examine peripheral nerves and muscles. The test consists of two parts: neurography is used to measure nerve conduction velocity; for this, electrodes are attached to the skin, and light electrical impulses are used to stimulate the nerve; myography is used to examine a muscle (or muscles) with a thin needle.

Both parts of ENMG are not always performed. The test is safe and has no aftereffects, but it may be slightly unpleasant and painful for the patient. It generally lasts about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
