Lung perfusion and ventilation scintigraphy
This examination helps to detect circulation and ventilation disorders of the lungs and it is done in two stages.
The circulation examination includes intravenously injecting a substance marked with radioactive technetium (99mTc) which will accumulate in the lungs proportionally to lung circulation. The ventilation examination requires the patient to inhale a substance marked with radioactive technetium (99mTc) which will accumulate in the lungs proportionally to lung aeration. It is possible to evaluate the role of the different parts of both lungs in breathing.
You can come to the examination only with a specialist’s referral.
