Neurodegenerative diseases
We specialise in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and Parkinson-plus syndromes. In addition to medical specialists and nurses, a speech therapist and physiotherapist are involved in the treatment of this group of diseases.
Parkinson's disease is a common movement disorder. Our centre specialises primarily in this disease. We are one of two centres in Estonia where patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease are treated with infusion therapy. Infusion therapy is indicated for patients with advanced Parkinson's disease who do not respond to oral treatment. The treatment involves injections of apomorphine at intervals, using an apomorphine pump and a levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel pump.
We also specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of other diseases similar to Parkinson's disease:
- diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of Alzheimer's disease
- treatment of tremors
- treatment of dystonias
