Skin biopsy
Histological examination of a tissue sample (biopsy) might be required to identify a skin disorder.
For this, a piece of skin with a diameter of 2 to 4 millimetres will be taken using a biopsy drill. You will not feel any pain due to a previously injected local anaesthetic, but you will retain touch sensitivity. The samples will be sent to the pathology centre where a result will usually be reached within 3–4 weeks.
