Large-scale evacuation exercise held at East Tallinn Central Hospital
On Thursday, 11 September, an evacuation exercise took place in the A and B buildings of East Tallinn Central Hospital’s unit at Ravi 18. The exercise focused on practicing the safe evacuation of patients and cooperation with other hospitals in Tallinn.
The aim of the exercise was to test crisis response, communication, and the transfer of patients both within the hospital and to other medical institutions. The exercise was carried out in cooperation with West Tallinn Central Hospital, North Estonia Medical Centre, Tallinn Ambulance Service, and the city’s crisis management team.
During the exercise, “patients” were role players taking part in the scenario. There was no real danger to hospital patients or staff, and regular medical work continued without interruption.
According to Tarmo Bakler, Chairman of the Management Board of East Tallinn Central Hospital, the exercise demonstrated that staff and partners are prepared for challenging situations. “Such exercises give us the confidence that in a crisis, continuity of care and patient safety will be ensured,” he said.
We thank patients, visitors, and staff for their understanding during the exercise.
