General Surgery Nurse Appointment
The general surgery nurse:
- counsels patients before and, if necessary, after surgery, including preparation and recovery;
- assesses the patient’s health status, confirms daily medications and comorbidities;
- refers the patient for required investigations and tests;
- evaluates post-operative wound condition and care, removes sutures if needed;
- takes microbiological swabs and replaces drainage bags if required.
Patients are referred to the general surgery nurse by the hospital’s surgeon.
