East Tallinn Central Hospital was awarded third place in a survey about attractive employers among medical students and students of medical science. The 2021 employer reputation survey conducted by employer branding agency Instar sought to examine how students studying in higher education establishments in Estonia assess medical workers as well as their expectations for employers, criteria for selecting a workplace and their preferred employers.

The 2021 employer reputation survey conducted by employer branding agency Instar sought to examine how students studying in higher education establishments in Estonia assess medical workers as well as their expectations for employers, criteria for selecting a workplace and their preferred employers.

The students who highlighted East Tallinn Central Hospital as their preferred employer valued the experienced and supportive hospital staff, development opportunities, training events provided by the hospital as well as up-to-date working conditions.

Respondents cited the ambition to become renowned specialists in their field as a career expectation over the next five years. This was followed by a wish to continue their studies while working part time. Students would prefer to work in their field in Estonia after completing their studies.

Survey results also show that 45% of medical students want to work in a hospital, while 12% of respondents want to work for a specialised medical care institution. As much as 71% of respondents would prefer to have a stable part-time employment relationship during their studies.

Above-average remuneration, flexible working hours and compensation of healthcare costs were mentioned as the most important benefits. In terms of criteria for selecting a workplace, students prioritised equal treatment and honesty on the part of the organisation.

They considered practical placement programmes and the company’s website to be the most efficient communication channels.

The survey conducted among medical students covered 89 medical organisations and 30 organisations from other fields of life.

Top employers are awarded the Attractive Employer label.
