Corneal transplantation

Donor corneal transplantation for various corneal diseases and traumas is a surgical procedure that involves removing the patient’s damaged cornea and replacing it with the donor’s translucent cornea, either in full thickness or in layers.

Donor corneal transplantation generally has a good prognosis for vision recovery. A translucent cornea can remain clear for many years, even up to a lifetime.
