PET/CT scan

The PET/CT is a combo device based on hybrid technology and it consists of a positron emission tomography (PET) and a computed tomography (CT) scanner.

PET/CT scan with 18F-PSMA

During the examination, a substance sensitive to prostate cancer cells, marked with radioactive fluorine (18F), shall be injected intravenously; the substance is called prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). The PET/CT scan is used to evaluate the spread of prostate cancer and to detect relapses. The need for the examination shall be determined by an uro-oncological consultation.

PET/CT scan with 18F-FDG

To perform the examination, a glucose analog solution, marked with radioactive fluorine (18F), shall be injected intravenously; this substance is called fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG). The PET/CT scan is commonly used to diagnose and evaluate the spread and treatment response of oncological diseases. You can come to the examination only with a specialist’s referral.
