Kidney function tests

This examination allows to detect kidney function disorders, caused by kidney damage or urinary tract obstruction.

In addition, it is possible to indirectly test for renal artery stenosis and its effect on kidney blood circulation. The examination includes intravenously injecting a substance marked with radioactive technetium (99mTc) which will accumulate in the kidney tissue and will be quickly excreted with urine. You should drink at least 500 ml of liquid before the examination.
